Licensed collectors

A knacker, knackerman or knacker man, is a job title used for the centuries-old trade of persons responsible for the removal of animal carcasses. In recent times the reputation and professionalism of this trade has improved considerably and they are now more commonly referred to as fallen stock collectors. The Equine end of life service only use registered licensed Collectors.

The Equine End of Life Service has been working with our established network of collectors within the industry for over 10 years.   Our aim is to provide a cost effective end of life collection service for all horse, pony, and donkey owners. We achieve this by utilising our collector network to cover the majority of post code areas within the UK.

Our collectors know it is essential that the horse, pony or donkey must be dealt with humanely and sensitively.  Collectors will act in a respectful way, as best they can, at all times.  Above all,  they are experienced, caring and professional.

Collectors  registered with the Equine End of Life Service are all  Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and  Animal By-Product (ABP)  approved.   Consequently our collectors adhere to the code of practice stipulated by the Equine end of Life Service.   They offer high bio-security standards of collection together with excellent industry knowledge.

There could be several different collectors operating in your post code area.  The Equine End of Life Service does not set prices, but instead does the hard work in getting the most competitive price from the collectors operating near you  Our team will contact your chosen collector to confirm all the arrangements on your behalf.

Should you wish to proceed with our services please contact our helpline.
